WHO WILL SURVIVE

  • Amidst the challenges of recent years, marked by profound racial injustices, a glimmer of hope emerged through global demonstrations. From Europe to Australia, people of diverse backgrounds united in demanding justice, expressing both frustration and the collective hope for a fairer future.

  • Inspiration

    Gil Scot-Heron, John Lewis
This project draws deep inspiration from two influential figures in American history: Gil Scott-Heron, a poet and musical artist, and John Lewis, a former congressman and civil rights leader. Growing up immersed in rap music referencing or sampling Scott-Heron's impactful work, I was particularly moved by his exploration of social and racial issues in the 70s and 80s.

Similarly, the dedication and courage of John Lewis and his contemporaries during the mid-century civil rights movement resonate profoundly with me. Their commitment to noble causes played a pivotal role in shaping a more inclusive America.

In my work, I aim to capture the intense blend of anger and hope mirrored by these figures, reflecting a global sentiment where diverse nations, with distinct racial, societal, and religious backgrounds, joined together in powerful demonstrations for justice.
